Lenses
Photographers make much more use of zoom lenses today as some years ago. This is because a zoom lens make it so easy to compose a photograph. In the past, with fixed lenses, you would have to move forward and backwards to get the correct composition. Nowadays most of us fit our zoom lens and zoom in or out to get the correct composition. Nothing wrong with it for normal day to day casual photography but look out for the effect the focal distance of the lens have on the proportion of the photograph.
In the three photographs below the children remained in the same position. Different lenses were used. The photographer moved backwards and forward in order to keep the subject at more or less the same size.
Amazing. Most of us would not notice the difference in our photographs. Ever thought what will happen if a police officer photograph the skied marks on a traffic accident scene with the wrong lens? This is why they suppose to only use 50mm fixed lenses for crime scene photography! |
